Hello, dear people of my hometown, Colchester! Yes, I am aware that some of you have found and decided to frequent my blog. It’s nice to see that I’m still able to provide some good ol’ gossip for those of you who seem unable to get enough of a buzz from your own lives. I thought I would take out a little time to try to explain things to you as it appears you are currently blinded by ignorance.

I am into BDSM. Not just in the metaphorical bedroom, but also as a lifestyle. This is my life, this is my choice. This is a very important part of who I am. And as I’m sure you are all aware, it really hurts when you hear of people ridiculing something that means a lot in your life.

This is the way I am, and the way I have been for years. I am still the same girl as I was when you last saw me - I haven’t morphed into some sort of freakshow overnight, I’m afraid. If you could accept who I was then, then you are a fool to let this blog change anything. I’m happier in myself than I have ever been in my life, and if you give even two flips about me then you will accept that and move on. 

BDSM stands for Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, and SadoMasochism. Do you see an A there for abuse? An M there for misogyny? No, I didn’t think so. What I engage in follows the Safe, Sane and Consensual guidelines. Neither me nor my partner are putting ourselves at risk. Yes, he may hurt me, but he is not harming me. Yes, we may play with restraints and resistance, but he has my full consent.  Every part of our relationship is discussed and everything we do is to enhance the other’s happiness, which to me sounds like the makings of any healthy relationship. You support gay rights? You support mixed race couples? But you don’t support freedom of sexuality? Hmm, doesn’t sound like an intelligent conclusion to me.

I have been lead to believe it is my set of rules that has appalled the majority of you. This is a commonplace activity within the BDSM scene. It is not wrong. It is right for our relationship, and the last time I checked you are not part of that. In fact, it was me who expressed a want for the rules. I will not let you continue to hurt my partner for simply doing something that he knew would make me happy. If you read the rules properly instead of just skimming over it to find juicy bits of gossip, you will see that my partner cares for me very much and wants the best for me. “You may never put yourself down. You are a beautiful, intelligent, funny girl and you will trust my judgment on that from now on.” Oh look, that’s obviously a bit fat example of disrespect and misogyny!

My partner has control over aspects of my life, yes, but it was me who gave him that control. Therefore, it is me who ultimately holds the control at the end of the day. I can take back that control at any point if something is not right. For me, the most meaningful gift I can choose to give is my submission, and I have every right to do that. I chose to give him parts of my life because I love him.

Please, open your minds.
